2008年9月18日，华硕推出了全球第一款支持Skype功能的视频电话——ASUS AiGuru SV1，这款电话已经获得了Skype的认证。

Skype负责音频和视频业务的总经理Jonathan Christensen表示：“AiGuru SV1是我们第一次与合作伙伴推出的视频电话，我们知道视频电话会很快成为人们的一种主要交流方式。它可以为更广泛的用户提供视频呼叫服务，可以让在世界各地的朋友或家人一同分享面对面交流的好处，大家也不用再面对让人疲惫的电脑。”

华硕AiGuru SV1视频电话采用了7英寸800×480的屏幕，它的摄像头可以拍摄640×480的视频，机身上还集成了麦克风与喇叭，并支持有线或无线的本地网络连接。此外，AiGuru SV1的操作界面采用了图标设计，屏幕下面分布了一些功能按键，用户可以通过这些按键拨打或接收Skype-to-Skype视频或音频电话，同时也可以使用SkypeOut电话充值卡和Skypeln等优惠服务。不过总体来说它的外观还是颇有些奇怪的。

不过说实话，华硕AiGuru SV1视频电话并不能算作手机，因为它的重量达到1.6kg，很不便携。另外，这款视频电话的通话时间和待机时间分别只有20分钟和30分钟，这也意味着它很不适合外出使用，而这些缺点也阻碍了AiGuru SV1视频电话取得市场成功。
